Keys To Power Series

If you are like most softball players, you are constantly looking to improve. I mean, let’s face it; our bat budgets are sometimes bigger than our paychecks. We spend time on message boards, we hit BP, and we play every chance we get. Competition brings out the best in us, and because we hate losing so badly, we spend our time, we spend our money, and we piss off our wives and girlfriends trying to become better players.
Most players do not lack the commitment it takes to improve; they just aren’t sure how to improve. Everybody has a different take on hitting, and everyone is more than happy to offer up their theories, tips, and practice drills. Sometimes it seems like every time you make an out, someone is telling you what you did wrong. Generally, the people ‘helping’ you are no better than you are. And more often than not, after they tell you what you did wrong, they come up and do something worse. And don’t think that this only happens at the lower levels. This is a universal problem that I see almost every time I play.
Like I said your struggles are not due to a lack of effort. Good information is the key. If you work on the right things, you will find yourself becoming a better hitter. Making you a better hitter is the goal of this series of articles. I will lay out the four areas where most people can improve. These are the ‘Keys to Power.’ They will give you the most bang for your buck, in terms of effort in/results out.
